About us
In-Flight movie is a synth punk band which combine frenzied drums, old school synths and driving guitar alongside dynamic vocals. Their live show takes audiences on a dark and nostalgic tour through a soundscape influenced by bands like Joy Division, New Order, Gary Newman, Black Marble, LCD Soundsystem and film soundtracks such as Blade Runner and Stranger Things.
In-Flight Movie were originally formed by Simon Calver (drums) and Pete Armstrong (synths) in 2016 with the misguided goal of writing a rock opera. Fortunately, James Askwith (vocals/guitar/synth) joined and gradually brought the project back down to Earth with some creative direction and common sense. Marinated over two years of lockdown, the band is now taking on new audiences. In-Flight movie has already been featured on BBC Introducing, Nightshift Music Magazine and was spotlighted by Sequential as a dedicated proponent of analogue synthesizers.

The band has recently finished recording their debut album to follow their single 'The Assistant', a song which combines the ghoulish drama of Frankenstein with the awkward frisson of a workplace romance. The band has been let loose again on the music scene in Oxford and can be found warming up venues such as the Jericho Tavern, Bullingdon and the O2.
